STROLL FOR THE PREVENTION
WHAT: We’d like to invite environmental groups and green companies to collaborate with us in envisioning, planning, and hosting a Stroll for the Prevention, to be held sometime in the near future around Oakland’s Lake Merritt.
WHY: Enough of “Race for the Cure”, which offers free PR to many of the same companies that cause the illnesses they claim to want to “cure.” Stroll for the Prevention advocates a shift in our priorities from “cure” to “prevention”of the serious illnesses that threaten not just ourselves, but the entire planet.
SPECIFICS: What would a day around Lake Merritt look like? A rally? A march? A fair? All of the above? Since you’ve been doing the work, we very much see this as a collaborative vision on how we move forward in making our world safe for future generations. Right now, we just want to start a conversation. Actually, we want to CHANGE the conversation so that we might create a true Marshall Plan for the Environment.
WHO WE ARE: We are a nonprofit performing arts organization that has been creating and producing performance events for 30+ years. We believe the arts have an important role in the fight against climate change and the revisioning of a sustainable world. The Stroll will combine our skills in creating and producing spectacle – with the experience and needs of environmental groups who share our goals. Look around our website to learn more about who we are and what we do.

STROLL FOR THE PREVENTION
What if you found out that you were breathing micro plastics?
What if the water you drank and the seafood you ate were contaminated by a myriad of chemicals, from antidepressants to birth control pills?
What if the reproductive health of YOU and EVERYONE you cared about—including infants in the womb—were threatened by chemical pollutants?
the rise of nationalism in Europe
and the wars in Syria and sub-Saharan Africa
were indirect consequences of whole regions of the world facing ecological devastation caused by global warming?
Would you spend BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of dollars on “medical cures”
and more military interventions?
Would you create a MARSHALL PLAN for the environment?
A GREEN NEW DEAL?
AND hold polluters ACCOUNTABLE?
